Today I not only have an awesome project to share with y’all here on the blog, but for all you Fort Worth readers, I will also be giving you all a tutorial in person!!! This Sunday I will be the blogger representative during the Hometalk/Pinterest event at my local Michaels Store (the Overton Ridge location to be exact).

So what does that mean?? All you lovely locals need to come check out the party!! The event will be held on Sunday, February 16th from 1:00 – 4:00 at the Michael’s off Overton Ridge (near Hulen). I would love for you all to come out to the party so I can meet you and also so I can show you how to create my project.

There were so many projects to choose from, but I wanted to create the monogram wall art using the stretched burlap canvas. I had such a blast perusing through Michaels getting to pick out all of my supplies! My vision was to create wall art that acted more of a welcome wreath. So… it’s not exactly a wreath, but it’s also not really wall art. It’s kind of both! I also wanted something fresh and bright and something that would easily transition into Spring. I knew I was going to place this on my front porch, so I also had to keep my red chairs in mind. Which is why I went with a coral, orangy/red, and blue color palette.

And here is the project I created for the event!

Isn’t it so fun!!?? I’m super happy with the way it turned out and the colors I chose. It just makes me happy!

Going back to the event details, Michaels is also generous enough to offer a chance to win a $100 gift card! All you have to do it click on the graphic above (or click here) to follow them on HomeTalk. I believe they will be announcing the winners the day after the event.

Alrighty, moving on to the tutorial!

1. I first painted my wood frame a light blue (with craft paint) and also painted my monogram “W” a bright white.
2. While the frame and “W” were drying, I began cutting up my flower bouquets into individual stems and testing out different arrangements to see which option I liked best.
3. Once the blue frame was dry, I glued the burlap canvas onto the wood frame. Then I started gluing my floral stems on the top of the frame with hot glue. Then to cover up my glue residue, I glued some paper and burlap flowers on top of everything.
4. Once the monogram “W” was dry, I glued it onto the burlap canvas using hot glue. I also added a few flower elements to the bottom of the frame to even everything out.
5. In order to hang the canvas, I glued a black and white burlap ribbon to the back and topped it off with a burlap bow.

And of course, my little Bailey girl was in the action the entire time… even though she wasn’t allowed outside;)
